Sorbitol is found in sugar-free products and also occurs naturally in some fruits.

Gut microbiota test

Gut microbiota test on a stool sample using sequencing based on the 16S ribosomal marker. It describes the bacterial groups present and their relative abundance in the sample on the day it was collected. On its own it does not diagnose a digestive disease, nor does it make it possible to choose a personalised diet or probiotic.

Methylmalonic acid, for borderline B12 deficiency

Methylmalonic acid test to clarify possible vitamin B12 deficiency when the initial figure has fallen in an indeterminate range. It is a functional marker that rises when cells do not have enough B12, although it can also rise if kidney function is reduced.

High prolactin assessment

Blood test to investigate high prolactin with single prolactin, pooled prolactin, macroprolactin, beta-hCG, TSH, testosterone and oestradiol. It checks whether the rise persists at rest, whether it corresponds to a form with little biological activity and whether there is a hormonal cause that helps explain it.

High calcium, PTH and mineral metabolism

24-hour urine free cortisol

It is one of the accepted tests for investigating possible Cushing's syndrome and estimates the amount of free cortisol excreted over the day. It requires a medical indication and a complete collection for the result to be valid.

Pituitary hormone profile

Dexamethasone suppression test

1 mg dexamethasone suppression test, also known as the Nugent test. Dexamethasone is taken at night and cortisol is measured first thing the following morning to check whether it has been suppressed. It is a screening test for Cushing's syndrome that requires a medical indication and a prescription to obtain the medicine.

Basal blood cortisol

Basal blood cortisol measured between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning. It is the first test when there is a medical suspicion of low cortisol or adrenal insufficiency. The time of day, corticosteroid treatments and oestrogens have an important effect on the result.

Metabolic assessment of kidney stones (blood and 24-hour urine)

Blood and 24-hour urine test to investigate nephrolithiasis, that is, stones in the kidney. It measures calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, PTH and kidney function in blood, and in urine it quantifies substances that promote or inhibit crystal formation, such as calcium, oxalate, uric acid, citrate, sodium, magnesium and pH. It is designed mainly for people with recurrent kidney stones or a high risk of them coming back.
